Job Title : MSIF Support Worker


Responsible for: Contributing to the day-to-day operation of the Medically Supervised Injection Facility (MSIF), supporting the Clinical staff and ensuring that users of the service receive the best standard of Care according to service policies and procedures

Reports to:        Clinical Nurse Manager (MSIF)


Objective: To support the MSIF team to provide a safe, hygienic and secure environment for clients.


                                                                       

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth daily operations: Contribute to the day-to-day running of services, adhering to organizational procedures to ensure efficient and consistent care delivery.

  • Provide quality support: Perform tasks as directed to guarantee that clients receive high-quality, safe, and appropriate support tailored to their individual needs.

  • Foster a trauma-informed environment: Promote and maintain a trauma-informed culture that is sensitive to clients’ experiences and needs.

  • Build trust with clients: Develop respectful, trusting relationships with all clients, handling difficult or challenging situations with care while preserving their dignity.

  • Complete administrative duties: Perform required administrative tasks in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate effectively as a team member: Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth operations, effective communication, and consistent service delivery.

  • Adhere to organisational policies: Follow the policies of MQI (Merchants Quay Ireland) to maintain high standards of service delivery.

  • Ensure policy compliance: Consistently uphold and enforce policies regarding service delivery, health and safety, confidentiality, and quality standards.

  • Perform other duties as required: Take on additional responsibilities as necessary to ensure the ongoing success and flexibility of the service.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate for this position should have:

  • Education and Experience:

    • A Level 5 QQI qualification(or higher) in social care or a related field.

    • Training and experience in specific modalities like Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) (Desirable)

    • AND/OR1 year of experience working in the addiction/homelessness sector or a related area, preferably in a residential setting.

  • Understanding of Key Issues: An understanding of the issues related to alcohol and drug use, homelessness, and mental health.

  • Knowledge: Good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices related to homelessness and/or substance abuse.

  • Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with clients and colleagues.

    • The ability to respond calmly in crisis situations and use initiative to manage incidents as they occur.

    • The capacity to work as part of a team, recognizing the importance of clear and effective team communication.


Contract:            Contract of Indefinite Duration

Salary:                 €30,572 - €38,403 per annum dependent on experience

Location: MSIF, Riverbank, Dublin 8
